What a weekend...sportswise and beyond:

Get ready to hear the phrase "Crabtree...Touchdown" early and often in the NFL beginning next year....and likely for the next 10-15 seasons after that, The Texas Tech WR is the best pass-catching prospect to come out of college in a decade.

Wouldn't it be great if we could turn back the clocks every Saturday night?

Forget "Giants-Cowboys." The NFL Game of the Year to date will be Sunday Night's "Giants-Eagles" game. So much hatred between these two teams. And so much on the line...especially for Philly.

Speaking of "The City of Brotherly Love"...Friday's W.S. Championship parade was spectacular. Best part - Jimmy Rollins calling-out the Mets at the post-parade rally. Believe me...there's plenty of hatred there too.

I only wish I lived in Vegas on days like Saturday...when I would have won enough $$$, on the Florida-Georgia game alone...to pay for my home in cash. That was an easy one.

As for the BCS rankings, even as Penn State remains on the outside of a possible Championship Game, I predict the coaches who vote in the polls that will ultimately decide which two teams meet for the title, will find a way to get Joe Paterno's team into that game, if they stay unbeaten. And they may be the ONLY unbeaten BSC conference team by the end of the month. Texas Tech could easily lose this week to Okla. St. And 'Bama...if they stay clean till then, will fall in the SEC Championship game to Florida.

I can't wait for the election to be over...except for the fact that a Obama presidency will send this country into a tailspin...socially...economically...in every other way...that we haven't experienced since the Carter Administration. Only this will be worse. Remember this...all you Obama supporters. This will be on your heads!

3-2 in our NFL picks this week...including our LOCK (Eagles  - 6 1/2). Tonight...Steelers are 0-2 against the NFC East. Prediction: Jason Campbell's no INT streak comes to an end.

Remember Who to Blame PDF Print E-mail

Normally I enjoy Election Day. I used to look at elections like a sports competition...and Election night was the grand finale: red states vs. blue states...seeking the clinching number of electorial votes.

But this year...the fun that I normally assocaite with Election Day was not present. Instead...this time, on the Presidental level, this was a competition in which there was no rooting interest. This was somewhat like last year's Super Bowl for me...since I hate the Giants and the Patriots equally and passionately.

But, at least that was only a game. What's happened to us, as citizens of what used to be the greatest country on Earth, is real.

Today... we are all losers.  America...the REAL America...has lost in this 2008 Presidental election. You may not feel that way now. In fact, a lot of people are giddy today, joyful. These are the blind, the ignorant, the ill informed and the unproductive in our society. And if you think there's a lot of people in that group NOW, wait for a couple of months. Here's two things that are going to happen as our country begins down the painful and embarrassing road toward national socialism:

1) True Americans, even those who didn't see the error of their ways before the election, will realize...much too late...the mistake that they've made.

2) The slackers in our society, the millions to have their hands out on a daily basis instead of trying to become productive members of this society, will become even more commonplace and needy than they already are. In fact, they'll become downright demanding. And because of the leaders we now have in positions of power, these slackers will get what they want.

It will be easy to know who to blame when our country takes this dramatic and sad turn for the worse. Because we know them...in fact you may be one. So I'll be blaming YOU. What will be tougher will be turning this thing around. But I'm confident it will happen. Out of J.Carter came R. Reagan.

And I believe there are still enough good people who believe that this country was made by and belongs to producers, not takers; doers, not slackers; workers; not the lazy. We're in for a painful ride. Protect your wallet and your spirit because it's going to get ugly.

Stock market down 500 points today. Nice start, Obama.

Week 10 NFL Picks PDF Print E-mail
Friday, November 07, 2008

Last week 3-2. 60%...but it could have been so much better. But instead of looking back...we look ahead...to an NFL weekend with a lot of attractive games and prognistigation options.

Vikings - 2 1/2

Green Bay's coming-off a tough, OT loss to the Titans in which they got physically beaten-up. Now they head indoors and have to deal with Adrian Peterson? It will be AD "All Day". And Gus ("The Mule") Frerotte will toss one or two for good measure.

Chiefs +15 1/2

If K.C. could build a 24-3 lead on a good Tampa Bay team I have no problem taking them against a miserable Chargers defense getting more than 2 touchdowns. New QB Tyler Thigpen has been getting it done for KC. He could have a 300 yd. passing game in this one. Chiefs keep it close.

Steelers -3

Colts back @ .500...but not for long. These lines in Indy games are still reflective of the Colts of old...not this 2008 version. Pittsburgh may be the most physical team in the NFL. Indy is still soft...even with Bob Sanders return. How can this line only be 3...when home field alone is worth 3 points?

Eagles -3

Best rivalry in the NFL. Two of the top defenses in the league. Offenses with plenty of weapons. This comes down to which team needs it more...and that's Philly. Plus, the "Old Eli" has been making return visits to the Giants huddle in recent games. And McNabb is running again...and he's got all his weapons. Eagles get this one. The re-match in a few weeks decides the division.

TAKE IT TO THE BANK - LOCK OF THE WEEK

Cardinals - 9 1/2

This one is of those "too good to be true" lines, which usually scare me away. But I just can't help myself. Cardinals offense should shred the San Fran defense...and the home, prime time crowd will inspire the Arizona defense to play it's best game of the year. Singletary will have a hard time keeping his pants on again at halftime.

That's it for Week 10. Be sure to get all the leaves up before 1:00 on Sunday (you can listen to the college games on your IPod).
